LUCY SHERWOOD

ARTIST

PROFILE

Lucy Sherwood is an emerging, multidisciplinary artist living and working in Cumbria, with interests mainly in painting, illustration and photography.
Though themes vary through her use of different mediums, Lucy's work is often conscious of the visual and textual properties, shape, and the consideration of colour; which has remained a consistent factor through her work.
Elements of psychology, emotional aspects, and perception of the natural environment has contributed to more recent work.

Lucy graduated from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) her BA (Hons) Fine Arts Degree in 2019. During this time, she participated in the ERASMUS+ programme, studying fine art, photography and graphic design at The Bauhaus Universitat in Weimar Germany.
Alongside influences from the Bauhaus, Lucy’s work is inspired by artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns.

Since then, Lucy has volunteered with creative Cumbrian organisations such as Art Gene and Signal Film and Media. At the beginning of 2020, Lucy began studying Social Enterprise Leadership with the University of Cumbria and The Brathay Trust on the Changing Culture Programme. Currently taking part in a voluntary work placement with Full-of-Noises in Barrow-in-Furness.
